Vert & Horiz

The inspiration here was all in the yarn: tone-on-tone greens and contrasting textures and lines. I liked the idea of working in discrete chunks and incorporating some luxurious accent yarn, resulting in something that’s a little reminiscent of strip-pieced quilting.


500 (575, 650, 750, 800) yds worsted weight wool (MC)

Three colors of worsted to bulky weight yarn for striped yoke:
23 (30, 30, 38, 38) yds A; 23 (23, 30, 30, 38) yds B; 23 (23, 30, 30, 30) yds C

Sample was worked in Briar Rose Fibers Abundance (worsted weight; 100% corriedale wool; approximately 750 yds/456g per skein) in #8245 Green/Black (MC) and Malabrigo Angora (aran weight, thick and thin; 100% handspun angora; approximately 50 yds/60g per skein) in #203 Verdes (A), #83 Water Green (B), and #117 Verde Adriana (C)

Size 8 (5mm) 24-inch† and 16-inch‡ circular needles or size needed to obtain gauge

2 stitch holders or waste yarn for holding unworked stitches

2 stitch markers
